The Roman Catholic Church is out of alignment with God regarding its exclusion of women from the sacrament of ordination. This exclusion is justified and perpetuated by (1) fundamentalist interpretations of scripture that violate the Church's own teaching on biblical interpretation, (2) the erasure of a complicated Church history that includes the participation of women in ordained ministries even in the midst of cultural and theologized sexism, and (3) an erroneous theology of the human person that violates the central teachings of the Gospels. The work of PROJECT: ORDINATION JUSTICE is to confront and clarify these misalignments in order to help the Church transition into the fullness of life that God desires.
