Lucky THE WIGGLER

Luckie came to Old Dog Heaven on June 28, 2024. We have no idea what kind of dog he is, some kind of terrier mix? His person had to relinquish this sweet boy because she going into a memory care unit where she cannot have pets. It was a heart-wrenching good-bye. I promised to bring Luckie to see her as often as I could.

Luckie is in decent health! His main issue is that he is completely blind. He is slowly getting to know the layout of Old Dog Heaven and he is getting along well with the others. When we walk, he follows my voice. We have to be very careful going up and down curbs and the like. He was also extremely overweight upon arrival, so we are working on his exercise and diet. After two weeks of walks he already lost a solid 7 pounds. Another 5 to go!  This will also help the significant arthritis he has in his left hind leg. 

But Luckie does not let any of this stop him. He is the happiest, friendliest, wiggliest dog I have ever met! He is pure joy. He goes nuts when I pick him up, almost wiggling right out of my arms with excitement. Thankfully, Rocky, Dexter, and Bandit welcomed Luckie into the pack right away and we are getting along famously. How did we get so Luckie in love?!

I ask your prayers for Luckie's person Jane, who must now live to learn to live without him in her daily life while she deals with this most difficult chapter of decline.
