#GODSAYSNOW MOVEMENT
FOR THE ORDINATION OF WOMEN AS PRIESTS

Picture

SIGN THE PETITION

Urge the Catholic Church to include priesthood in the upcoming study on the role of women in the Church

Pope Francis recently created ten working groups to study the significant issues that emerged from the consultation of God's people through the synod process. One group is tasked with studying the role of women in the Church. However, priesthood was intentionally excluded from their work even though calls for the ordination of women as priests came from around the world through the Synod on Synodality. This petition calls the Church to include priesthood in the upcoming study on women.

CREATE A SACRAMENTAL SIGN:
WEAR RED & pOST

The majority of Catholics in many countries know that God is calling women to be priests. This includes thousands of deacons, priests, bishops, cardinals, vowed religious brothers and sisters.

What if all this hidden support was made visible? Such visibility would create an undeniable sacramental sign that would enter the prayer and dialogue of the Synod meetings in October.

Red is the color of ordination, so put on your best red outfit and post! Use the tags and hashtags and remember to KEEP IT JOYFUL!

call the synod to integrity

Good discernment requires a proper question and the collection of all the relevant information related to the question. The Church currently seems to be asking, "Can the Church ordain women?" This is a faulty question because it centers the Church rather than God. The proper discernment question is, "Is God calling women to ordained ministries?" This question makes the Holy Spirit the protagonist of the discernment, invites a fresh look at the relevant scripture, tradition, lived experience, and signs of the times. The proper phrasing also leads to the expansion of ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION needed for the discernment to take place. When it comes to the study of this issue, the Church must gather the additional information that has thus far been omitted: a more honest history of women in leadership, the marginalized voices of women from around the world who are called to priesthood, and transparency of where all ordained and vowed religious stand on the issue.

HISTORY OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

Picture
This history of the leadership, participation and ordination of women in the Church has been obfuscated and made hidden. Many reputable scholars have uncovered a rich history of women's participation in the Church throughout the centuries, and their ongoing battle against the cultural forces that work to keep them subjugated in a role that goes against God's covenant of love and salvation.

VOICES of women
called to priesthood

Picture
Women called to priesthood are some of the most marginalized people in the Church. They are often silenced, even by the movement calling for the ordination of women as deacons. Yet, it is through the marginalized that God provides the path to flourishing. Therefore, the voices of the women at the tip of the spear of exclusion must be made central in the discernment on the role of women in the Church, otherwise the discernment has no integrity.

TRANSPARENCY of ordained & religious

Picture
There are thousands of ordained deacons, priests, bishops and cardinals, as well as vowed religious sisters and brothers, who know that God calls women to be priests, yet they are largely silent/silenced. Pope Francis as lead pastor must ensure the ordained--especially bishops--can speak freely on how the Spirit is moving in their local Churches and in their own hearts. If we want to see how the Holy Spirit is moving in the Church, transparency of those with institutional power is a must.

All things can be done for the one who believes.
